Abstract


TWO MANUSCRİPTS ABOUT HIGH CULTUREL LEVEL OF 19. CENTURY CAPPADOCIA
Cappadocia region is located in the center of the square of Aksaray, Niğde, Kırşehir, Nevşehir and Kayseri. These cities were the most important cultural centers of the first centuries of Anatolian Turks. Mevlana Celalleddin-i Rumi, Ahi Evran, Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, Yunus Emre, Gülşehri and Aşık Paşa who were founders of Anatolian Turkish culture lived in this region. Cappadocia’s cultural level remained high during the following centuries. Even in the 19th century which was the period of dissolution of the Ottoman Empire there was a significant level in cultural life of Cappadocia. Two manuscript copies of Bâğ-ı Behişt which written by Kuloğlu Şeyh Hacı İlyas are witnesses of significant level of cultural life in Cappadocia in the 19th century. These manuscripts were copied in AH 1247 (1831/1832) and in AH 1262 (1846). There are important informations about Cappadocia region in the inscriptions of these manuscripts. One of them was copied in Matyan (Göreme) and the aother one was copied in Arabsun (Gülşehir).
