Abstract

THE ENDEAVOR OF GOVERNOR KALLEY TO PARTITION TURKEY FROM AUSTRIA-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE AFTER THE INVASION
The Kallay regime was being implemented in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the invasion by Austria-Hungarian Empire in 1878 due to political, social, and national imperatives. The invading forces with the crisis of 1882 in Herzegovina aimed at enforcing the long-abandoned monarchy. The bulk of the problems were beyond the invaders and they viewed the Kallay regime as a solution. Kallay regime was defined in compliance with the demographics in Bosnia-Herzegovina in essence, the political and national relations between monarchy, the judicial status of Bosnia Herzegovina and finally the Balkan policy of Austria-Hungarian Empire. These characteristics must have been underpinned to apply the proposed scheme. As a result, the implementation of Kallay regime lasted for 20 years. Kallay viewed the Muslims as a force against the Pan-slavist tendencies. Not only the given factor must not be kept away from collapsing but also be kept alive as well. To this end, sanctions are imposed. Kallay believed in that the conversion of Orthodox people in to Catholics is not foreseen but if Muslims turn back to Islam, they would probably choose Catholics on purpose.
