Abstract
Orta Çağ’ın önemli siyasi güçlerinden biri olan Büyük Selçuklu Devleti, 11. yüzyılın ortalarında Anadolu'dan Orta Doğu’ya kadar geniş bir coğrafyada hüküm süren büyük bir İslam devletiydi. Bu dönemde, Selçuklu Devleti’nin sınırları içinde yer alan Gürcistan Krallığı da önemli bir siyasi aktördü. Melikşah, 1072-1092 yılları arasında Selçuklu tahtında hüküm süren büyük bir hükümdardı ve bu dönem, Selçukluların en zengin ve güçlü olduğu dönemlerden biri olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu zenginlik ve güç, komşu devletlerle olan ilişkilerde büyük bir etki yaratmıştır. Dolayısıyla Sultan Melikşah’ın hüküm sürdüğü dönem boyunca Gürcistan ile Selçuklu İmparatorluğu arasındaki ilişkiler karmaşık bir hal almıştır. Bu dönemdeki olaylar, bölgenin siyasi ve stratejik dinamikleri üzerinde önemli bir etki yaratmıştır. Bu dönemde Gürcü Kralı II. Giorgi ve halkı Selçuklu İmparatorluğu'nun baskısı altında zor bir dönem yaşamıştır. Selçuklu İmparatorluğu’nun Gürcistan’a yapmış olduğu fetihler ve yerleşimler sonucunda Türkmen gruplarının bölgeye yerleşmeye başlamış olması, Gürcistan’ın demografik yapısını etkilemiş ve Gürcü halkı ile Türkmenler arasında gerginliklere neden olmuştur. Bununla birlikte özellikle halkın bu bölgeye yerleşmesi kültürel etkileşimlere sebep olmuştur. Dolayısıyla bu dönemdeki Selçuklu-Gürcü ilişkileri, bölgenin tarihinde önemli bir dönemi temsil etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Melikşah dönemindeki Selçuklu-Gürcü ilişkilerini inceleyerek, bu dönemde Selçuklular ve Gürcüler arasındaki hakimiyet mücadelesinin bir sonucu olarak ortaya çıkan önemli politik ve diplomatik olaylara değineceğiz.

Abstract
The Great Seljuk Empire, one of the most important political powers of the Middle Ages, was a great Islamic state that ruled over a vast geography from Anatolia to the Middle East in the mid-11th century. During this period, the Kingdom of Georgia, located within the borders of the Seljuk Empire, was also an important political actor. Melikshah was a great ruler who reigned on the Seljuk throne from 1072 to 1092, and this period is considered one of the richest and most powerful times for the Seljuks. This wealth and power had a significant impact on the relationships with neighboring states. Therefore, during Sultan Melikshah's reign, relations between Georgia and the Seljuk Empire became complex. The events of this period had a significant impact on the political and strategic dynamics of the region. During this period, Georgian King Giorgi II and his people experienced a difficult time under the pressure of the Seljuk Empire. The Seljuk Empire's conquests and settlements in Georgia led to the migration of Turkmen groups into the region, which affected the demographic structure of Georgia and caused tensions between the Georgian population and the Turkmen settlers. However, the settlement of people in this region also led to cultural interactions. Therefore, the Seljuk-Georgian relations during this period represent a significant era in the history of the region. In this study, we will examine the Seljuk-Georgian relations during the Melikshah era and delve into the significant political and diplomatic events that emerged as a result of the power struggle between the Seljuks and the Georgians during this period.
